Dave Grohl tells it how it is.

http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=2634042

Here Dave sums up the reason I love the music I do, it has heart and personality and is made by people who care more about the love of what they do, rather than what the music they are making might do for them in return.

If you are someone who likes whatever you hear on the radio, thats fine, Im not here to have an argument over whether that is right or wrong, It can be a useful tool to hear new music (now and again). But there a large portion of that music that is so watered down and produced by the labels and musicians themselves to just make money and become a celebrity. More effort goes into hitting demographics, creating an image and being seen in all the right places with all the right people. Theres a large percentage of One Direction fans for example who are more interested in whether one of them is single than what their singing, and pay money to see them in concert and get their cd because their ‘cute’ picture is on the cover.

When did music become less about the music, and how did we let this happen.

Amazing, on every possible level.

Amazing, on every possible level.

this basically just sums up my old SU’s attempts at putting on shows perfectly.

Is that Phil Dearman with the mic?

Two pictures. One is the grim Yorkshire weather from my window. The other is the ice cream van that drove down my street through the fog has been there all day, or at least, since I woke up.

At first I thought it was a bit stupid and was thinking ‘what the hell is an ice cream van doing driving around on a foggy evening in November?’ and then, after I’d gone and bought a 99, I thought about it a little more about it and realised that ice cream sellers only have a few months to make their living for an entire year. Not only is our economy still in a bit of a shambles, the weather was actually pretty shit this summer, so there’s a good chance that the reason he was still out in November is because he didn’t make enough money in the few months he’s usually working, so now he has to drive around in the cold just to make a few quid a day. And he was getting on a bit, the guy in the van. I feel bad about it.

Also, the 99 was a scoop, not a soft serve, and soft serve is way better.

Dixons Ice Cream was one of the best things about living in Huddersfield.

I should probably go home for this. It’s been about three years since I last saw one of my favourite bands in the world play a show, and who knows how long it’ll be until they do another.

Makes me realise Katie has officially left the band, this makes me very sad!

I love that after moving away from each other almost 4 years ago i can call my best friend up after not speaking in weeks, sometimes months and have the best chats ever!

the feeling is more than mutual.

Steve

Over the years I’ve had,

original 512mg iPod shuffle,
original 4gb iPod nano,
original 80gb iPod classic,
original 16gb iPod touch,
iPhone 3g,
and now the iPhone 4.

I’ve worked on macs and macbooks over the years at uni and at various places of work, and hope to get a mac of my own soon.

My life has certainly been enriched by these products, especially the iPhones.
They are a source of entertainment, communication and information, and sad as it may be, a big part of my life revolves around its use.

Just wanted to say,
cheers Steve.
